SHILLONG: Various political parties in the State on Friday protested the huge increase in the price of diesel and restriction in the supply of LPG cylinders.

While the National Youth Front, the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) has decided to launch agitations in the State shortly in protest against the decision, the State BJP unit has asked the Centre to roll back the prices.

Addressing a news conference at the party office on Friday, National Youth Front leader Aldo Sangma said that the decision to restrict the use of LPG cylinders will result in black marketing of cylinders.

Sangma said that the Congress Government is not serious to raise taxes from all available sources, adding that raising taxes will not directly affect the budget of the common man.

“We demand immediate roll back of the diesel prices and leave the supply of LPG cylinders to the market driven demand and supply,” Sangma added.

The NPP youth wing has also urged other likeminded political parties and youth organizations to take part in the proposed agitations to be launched by the youth body.
