Agartala: Taking strong note of the comments made by Union Minister of State for Finance Namanarayan Meena on recommendations made under 13th Commission at a party rally here, Finance Minister Badal Choudhury termed the above as low profile politics.
The Central Minister had said that the state got Rs 4710 crores more grants as per 13th Finance Commission recommendation but did not get its due as per requirements as it could not project its liability properly to the commission.
Reacting to this, Choudhary said that though the 13th FC recommended more grants, the state has got the second lowest increase in award amount among all the states in the country.
“Out of 28 states, 20 states got more then hundred per cent increase and it was only 55.96 per cent for Tripura” said the minister.
He also added that it is incorrect on part of the central minister to say that the state government has not projected its requirements properly to the commission. “The total requirement projected by the state was Rs 26642.44 crores but the 13th FC has recommended only 13127.88 crores”, he said.
He further added that in case of salary expenditure, the projection of the state was Rs 13127.88 crores but the 13th FC has recommended only Rs 7727.90 crore.
Earlier, talking to media at Civil Secretariat, Choudhary alleged that the Union Minister spoke in two voices.
“In Delhi they appreciate the achievements of the state while it is vice versa during their state visits.”
