SHILLONG: Union Power Minister M Veerappa Moily will lay the foundation stone of the Mawphu Hydel power project at the office premises of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) on Monday.
The Mawphu project, to be executed by NEEPCO, is expected to generate 85 MW of power which would help the State tide over the existent power crisis to a certain extent.
A memorandum of understanding was signed in April this year by the Meghalaya Government and NEEPCO to start the Stage Two of the Mawphu hydel project.
