SHILLONG: The breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) has called for a 2-hour bandh on a daily basis for five continuous days from September 24 in the entire Garo Hills region.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the outfit said the bandh has been called to pressurize the GHADC CEM to resign from his post.

The outfit also asserted that all lessees of haats and markets, gates and monopolies will have to stop all collection from Monday onwards as all settlements made by Purno K Sangma holds no value as he misused the power of being the chief of a Sixth Schedule institution for personal gains.
