Workshop

A workshop-cum-training programme on Assamese traditional musical instruments dhool, pepe, gagana has going on at the Assam Club premises since September 16. Organised by Deep Jyoti Socio Environmental Society of Bishnupur, the workshop will continue till October-end. From now on interested participants can come to Sankardev Bidyapith to take part in the workshop on every Saturday and Sunday.

Teez fest

The Goreto Socio Cultural and Welfare Society recently organized a Teez festival along with other cultural activities in the city. Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong and GAD minister AL Hek were also present on the occasion. Rup Pariat , a recipient of Bharat Excellence Award was also felicitated on the occasion.

Health camp

The Seng Bhalang Lumsawdong Umtong recently organized a two-day awareness programme on National Rural Health Mission at LP School, Umtong,. Around eighty people attended the programme and free medicines were also distributed.

Platinum jubilee

The closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebration of the Khasi Jaintia National Government Upper Primary School will be held on September 25 at 11 am.

General meet

The Foreign trade chamber of commerce Meghalaya will organise the general meeting on Monday at Presbyterian Primary School at 11am.

Executive meet

The Meghalaya College Non-Teaching Employees Association (MCNTEA) will hold its executive committee meet on Saturday to discuss its various demands.

Office bearers

The Lumparing Welfare Society has elected new office bearers with Dr Sudip Dey as the president, Angsuman Das as the working president and Jayanta Das as the general secretary. The extra-ordinary meeting to elect the new office-bearers was held on September 6.

Musical evening

The Shillong Assamese Ladies Club (SALC) will host a musical programme – Bhupen Hazarikar Geetar Gadhuli, a musical tribute to Asom Ratna and Padma Vibhushan Dr Bhupen Hazarika, on the Assam Club premises on Saturday at 4-30pm. A number of noted singers from Guwahati will participate in the musical extravaganza. Dr Hazarika’s 86th birthday was celebrated on September 8. On this occasion the SALC held a tree plantation programme.
