Inauguration
Chief Advisor of the State Government, DD Lapang, on Monday inaugurated the new school building of Umlakhar Secondary School which has been constructed under the SSA scheme at an amount of Rs 6.18 lakh.
Tourism Day
The Department of Tourism will celebrate the World Tourism Day on September 27 at the State Central Library. The theme for the celebration is ‘Tourism and sustainable energy powering sustainable development’. The programmes planned for this year includes quiz competitions, food festival and a musical evening.
Road closed
The MBGM road (Balat-Bagli road) from Umpung to Phodkroh has been closed to all vehicular traffic due to collapse of a bridge at 8 kilometers. Restoration work is in progress.
Unclaimed body

Spl programme
Information and Public Relations, Tura on Monday organsied a day-long special interactive programme at Oragitok Secondary School. During the programme, officials from different departments presented talk on their departmental activities.
New office bearers
The Laban Masjid Committee has elected new office bearers for a term of three years (2012-2015) with Muqaddas Shabong as president, Asfaque Haq and Moonstar Shangpliang as vice presidents, Wahid Nongbri as treasurer, Iqbal Hazarika as the adviser, besides other executive members.
Home loan mela
The State Bank of India will organise a Mega Home Loan Mela-2012 at Shillong Club on Wednesday and Thursday wherein 14 builders from Shillong and Guwahati will participate.
