Blood donation Day

The office of the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society in collaboration with State Blood Transfusion Council and licensed blood banks of the state will launch month long blood donation campaign on October 1 at 10 am at Shillong Civil Hospital.

 World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day was observed at Orchid Restaurant, Umran, Ri-Bhoi district on Thursday. The participants to celebrate this day were from Tourism related NGOs, Societies and entrepreneurs and stakeholders.

 Body recovered

The body of a male person was recovered from Wahklial river near Nongdon village in West Khasi Hills on Wednesday. The matter is under enquiry by the police.

 Dry day

Dry day was declared in West Khasi Hills on October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti.

 ICFAI meeting

The 13th meeting of the Board of Governor of ICFAI University, Meghalaya was recently held at Shillong. During the meeting, it was decided to launch new Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in Economics, Mathematics, Commerce and B.Ed in future.

 Bengali Drama

‘Shraboni’, a newborn socio cultural organization of Shillong is staging for the first time, the famous Bengali Drama, “NOTIBINODINI” by Shri Brojendra Kumar Dey on Sunday at Bangiyo Sahitya Parisad, at 6 pm.

 Participation

The Karbi Students’ Association, Shillong, took part in the observation of UNO International day of Peace at Shillong, organized by the IBSWO, Meghalaya on September 20 and 21.

 Musical Concert

To commemorate the International day for older persons, the Northeastern Service of All India Radio is organizing a musical concert entitled – “Total recall- songs of yesteryears” on October 1 at Anton Hall- Laitumkhrah from 4.30 PM to 6.30 PM. This concert is being organized by AIR-NES with an aim to inspire the old talented artists from NE to come and perform their songs of archival value on stage.
