MMSA continues to press for action

 SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Medical Service Association (MMSA) on Thursday pressed on the state government to take action against the erring policemen who alledgedly assaulted doctor-in-charge of Chokpot PHC Dr WN Sangma on September 25.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Secretary WMS Pariat here, MMSA general secretary Dr A Warr said that during their last meeting recently, the government had assured that any decision on the further course of action on the matter would be communicated to the Association by Wednesday. Besides, it was also told that the reports of another internal enquiry conducted by the Home Department will be made known on the same day.

“It was based on this assurance that we had decided to wait till Wednesday, but till now we have not received any communication from the government,” Dr Warr said. The MMSA also lodged an FIR with the DGP against the erring policemen.

It may be mentioned that the MMSA had decided to defer its state-wide stir beginning Monday after the government offered for talks over the issue of the alleged detention and assault of Dr WN Sangma.
