Guwahati: A bullet-riddled body of a senior police officer’s husband, suspected to have committed suicide, was found inside a vehicle atop the Nilachal Hill near the Kamakhya Temple here, police said on Friday.
The body of Nilotpal Lahon, husband of Guwahati City Additional Superintendent of Police Leena Doley, was spotted by locals in a vehicle with the deceased on the driving seat, holding a pistol in his hand.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said preliminary investigation indicated it to be a case of suicide as there was a pistol in the hand of the deceased but further investigations were on to ascertain the exact cause of the death. Assam CM Tarun Gogoi directed Chief Secretary N K Das to inquire into the incident. (PTI)
