Food festival held

 SHILLONG: A unique food festival consisting of various homemade mouthwatering delicacies was organized by the Shillong Branch of Sarada Sangha – a nationally based philanthropic organization – at Opera Hall, Thana Road on Saturday. The food festival was inaugurated by Swami Achyuteshananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong.

The one of its kind food festival saw the display of Bengali special desserts, such as Peetha, coconut laddoo, special tea, Kheer sandesh besides fast food items like dahi vada, dhokla, neemki etc. Also on display was potato cauliflower curry, alu dum among other delicious homemade items. The president of Sarada Sangha, Shillong Uma Purkayastha said that the food festival was organized to raise funds for the ensuing diamond jubilee celebration of Sarada Sangha due in 2014.
