SHILLONG: The Forest and Environment is the only department to implement the Government circular which directed all employees absent from duty during the September 20 Bharat Bandh to apply for casual leaves (CL).

“We are not doing anything extra ordinary. We are just following the Government circular,” Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Lyngdoh said here on Monday.

When asked if the employees would have to take CL if they do failed to attend office on account of the bandh called by HANM on Tuesday, Tynsong said that the Government circular is very clear and they would have to attend duty.

The Minister, however, refused to comment on other departments not following the circular.

Earlier, the Bharat Bandh organised by the BJP-led NDA on June and September last had evoked good response in the city with a large section of people including Government employees abstaining from work on the day.
