Arunachal BJP holds rally in memory of Indo-China war

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP has appealed to the people from all sections of society to participate in the ‘Saheed Shradhanjali Yatra’ to be flagged off from Guwahati by national president Nitin Gadkari on October 18.

The rally is being organised to observe 50 years of Chinese aggression in which more than 3700 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives in Tawang and Wallong sectors of the state to protect their motherland.

The three-day rally under the banner of ‘Jara Yand Koro Kurbani’ will be organised by the party’s youth wing BJYM, culminated at Bumla, near Indo-China border in Tawang sector of the state on October 20.

“The Chinese Army attacked our country on October 20 in the year 1962, in which above 3700 Indian soldiers laid down their lives in the war in Tawang and Wallong sectors of the state,” informed BJP’s national general secretary and former MP Tapir Gao in a press meet held here today.

To pay homage in memory of the soldiers, who sacrificed lives to protect our country, the party has decided to unfurl national tri-colour at Bumla in Tawang sector, he said.

Releasing the detailed schedule of the proposed Shradanjali Yatra, he said about 125 BJYM delegates from all over the country including NE states will take part in the rally.

Besides senior BJP leaders, state BJP president Tangor Tapak, retired army personnel and people from various sections are likely to participate in the rally, Mr Gao said.

After taking off from Guwahati in the morning, the rally will reach at Bumla on October 20, via Tezpur, Bhalukpong, Dirang and Tawang, Mr Gao informed.

It will also pay floral tributes to the war memorials at Tezpur, Jaswant Garh and war memorial at Tawang during the rally besides holding of candle light programme at Dirang and Tawang. (UNI)
