SHILLONG: The frequent bandhs which are affecting the common man have evoked concerns, with former legislator PT Sawkmie saying that the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) should have restrained from calling the bandh as it had affected the poor people of the State.

Considering the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations in the State, frequent bandhs will only bring inconvenience to the people who are preparing for the religious festivity, Sawkmie said in a statement.

According to the former legislator, the closure of markets has also affected the poor vendors who eke out a living by selling vegetables and other perishable items.
