SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the State government has been focusing to ensure that issue of ‘governance’ was is addressed in a much more ‘proactive’ manner.
“There has been substantial investment to the effect where the support system which is required for the whole services is ensured to be provided in a manner which is considered appropriate,” Sangma said.
Sangma on Saturday urged the Meghalaya Civil Service Officers to adopt the habit of learning continuously while delivering their services to the common people.
Addressing the gathering of the Meghalaya Civil Service Officers’ Association Annual Conference 2012 here, Dr Mukul Sangma asked the officers to be ready to learn continuously which will go a long way in equipping them with knowledge and ideas and make them capable of delivering the kind of services which befit the aspirations of the people.
Pointing out that serving the people is itself a great privilege and the state is itself a great opportunity, he said, “The intention which you (officers) have entered the service have been identical because we have shared objectives while serving the state,” adding therefore this intention must be the reason for us to strive to excel as willingness to learn is very important.
The Chief Minister urged upon the young officers to be more innovative and creative. “There must be sincere efforts from everyone to be innovative and creative to find out the best way as to how the objective of serving the people can be effective. This can happen when you have the desire and intention,” he asserted.
“We are a team which is committed to serving the people and responding to the aspirations of the people,” he said.
Earlier, RV Suchiang, Commissioner of Divisions Khasi, Jaintia and Ri Bhoi District asked the officers to adopt a friendly attitude while dealing with the common people.
Mukul late yet again
Continuing his habit of arriving late at the any event, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma was once again late in arriving for the Meghalaya Civil Service Officers’ Association conference at The Shillong Club.
The conference of the MCS Officers was scheduled to start at 11 am where the Chief Minister was the chief guest, but Dr Sangma reached the venue only at 12 noon, one hour after the scheduled start of the programme.
