Sean Paul, who is all set for his maiden tour in India, says he wants to meet Indian fashion designers to incorporate the famous zardozi embroidery on his jackets.

The 39-year-old Jamaican dancehall artist will visit the Taj Mahal and will also make his Indian fans groove to tracks from his newly released album ‘Tomahawk Technique’ during his trip.

“I have a very limited time in India, so I have very few plans after my tour, like visiting Taj Mahal. I also need to meet Indian designers and customize my jackets with some typical Indian zardozi work. I want to relish every Indian dish,” Sean told PTI in an email interview.

He will perform in three cities – Delhi (November 2), Mumbai (November 3) and Bengaluru (November 4) and he has been wanting to visit India for quite some long time. “I have been waiting to visit India for like six years now and thanks to Blue Note Entertainment, I’ll be performing for all my Indian fans. I am ready to explore as much as I could. “For all that I have heard about this welcoming country, I am sure it will be a terrific threesome among India, Indian people and my music… I like the sound of it. I am bringing Tomahawk Technique and can’t wait to see how my Indian fans groove to it,” he said.

Born in a family of athletes in Kingston, Sean said that it is his love for the music that eventually brought him to the industry. “I have been writing songs since I was 14. I do not have any reason or any such inspiration to make music as my career. I absolutely do it for the love of it. It is like, I am bored and I create something new,” he added.

The ‘So Fine’ hitmaker has collaborated with singers such as Usher, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Jay Sean, Justin Bieber and Beyonce Knowles in his 15-year-old career and churned out many hit club numbers.

Asked about any Indian artist he would like to collaborate with, he said, “Working with different artistes, expanding music, concepts, sound is always a good thing for me. Indian singers are renowned worldwide. I am aware of A R Rahman, who had been nominated for the Oscars. In near future, I might do dancehall music with an Indian singer.”

Sean, who is known for setting new trends in club music, said he might also incorporate Indian folk music in his upcoming album. “I am an artist. I love music and appreciate music in all its forms. I would not say that I am unfamiliar, I know Indian music has crossed all borders, I have heard about the folk compositions belonging to different parts of India. In near future I would love to tour India so that I could use it,” he said. (PTI)
