Report on traditional medicine panel tabled

SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Executive Member Remington Pyngrope has tabled the report on the constitution of the Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission (KTMC) as per Section 3 of the KHADC (Protection and Promotion of the Khasi Traditional Medicine) Act, 2011.

While tabling the report in the House on the first day of the KHADC Autumn session, Pyngrope said the Executive Committee constituted the KTMC in accordance with the amended Assam-Meghalaya Autonomous district Council (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951.

According to the Deputy Chairman, the committee would be led by the ICARE president Toki Blah, while KHADC secretary W Syiemlieh would be the secretary.

The other members of the committee are Dr Alka Kharsati, Dr Boss Myrthong, Dr John Kharduit, Dr Philing Rynjah, Dr Jenifer B Basaiawmoit, Dr Sandi Syiem, Dr B Kharbuli, Dr EH Kharkongor, Mrs Patricia Mukhim and Dr Don Syiem.

Obituary references: The KHADC on Tuesday paid rich tributes to its former member Late E Bremly Lyngdoh.

Lyngdoh, who expired on September 29 last, was the member of the KHADC from 1972 to 1978. He represented Mawlai.

While participating in the customary obituary reference, KHADC CEM Pyngshngain N Syiem said the sudden demise of this great political leader was great a loss for the State.

Mawkyrwat MDC Enbin R Raswai (HSPDP) recalled his association with Late Lyngdoh when the Meghalaya Democratic Party (MDP) was formed in 2002.

According Mawlai MDC Embhah Syiemlieh (UDP) the demise of Late Lyngdoh was a great loss for the people of Mawlai.
