NONGSTOIN: An awareness cum voluntary blood donation camp was organized at Nongstoin Civil Hospital on Wednesday organised by the District Health department in collaboration with the 4th MLP Battalion, Nongstoin.
JP Lakiang, ADC, West Khasi Hills attended the camp as the chief guest in the presence of West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police R Muthu.
Dr P Lyngkhoi, DMHO, West Khasi Hills, Dr SS Nongbri Sub Divisional DMHO West Khasi Hills, Dr E Lyngdoh and Dr K Lyngdoh enlightened the gathering about the blood donation camp and dispelled superstitions related with it.
Hundreds of volunteers came forward to donate blood but only 10 police personnel and 1 civilian were allowed to donate as transporting blood through the bad roads in Nongstoin would have resulted in contamination of the blood rendering them useless.
