NONGSTOIN: The Hima Raid Mynsaw Langpih on Friday decided to take up the unresolved border issue at Langpih with the State Government for one last time after the Durga Puja festival. In a meeting at Langpih over 50 representatives from all the villages under Hima Raid Mynsaw led by its Sordar Hindro Samakha decided to urge the State Government one last time to resolve the issue at the earliest. The Sordar also announced that whatever be the outcome of the talks with the Government, the villagers would resume construction of the market shed at Langpih.

“The Hima Raid Mynsaw and the people of Langpih have time and again been deceived by the Government which is yet to move a muscle on the border issue,” Samakha said. “The Government did not budge when four of our brothers died in 2009. It remained unflinched during the fast-unto-death. Now if the Government does nothing by December, the Hima will take the border issue into its own hands,” Samakha warned. The meeting also discussed the exclusion of Langpih from the Meghalaya map. All the 50 representatives of the Raid Mynsaw signed a condemnation petition to be submitted to the State Government during the proposed meeting after the Durga Puja.
