Opp parties join hands to expose SPF govt

Imphal: Seven Opposition parties have come together to reveal various financial misdeeds of the SPF government led by Okram Ibobi Singh and Speaker, Th Lokeshore.

Representatives of seven political parties of CPI, MPP, JD (U), JD(S), BJP, CPM and AITC submitted a memorandum to Governor Gurbhachan Jagat at Raj Bhavan today.

It was charged that during the last few years corruption has crept in functioning of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

Family members and relatives of Speaker and Deputy Speaker were appointed in the Assembly using fabricated documents. The whole episode needs to be thoroughly investigated it was stated.

The repeated revelations in national and local media on the Rs 224 crore scam in Loktak Lake Development where undue favours and violation of CPWD norms mark biggest ever scam have really shocked the people of Manipur it was stated.

The K-Pro Infra Works Private Limited Company was awarded the work without observing CPWD norms.

The single bidder company entered into a joint venture with Hyderabad based Progressive Construction Limited (PCL) for cleaning up of Phumdis (Biomass) from Loktak Lake. It was alleged that PCL is founded and controlled by K. Sambasiva Rao, Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh, K. Sambasiva Rao.

Further, another exposure on the misuse of Rs. 50 crores from the ICDS funds of the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Manipur is a matter of great concern it was further stated.

The Governor was urged to take a serious view on the matters and initiate appropriate actions on these issues. Those who met the Governor included Dr. M. Nara Singh, Secretary, CPI/MSC, Sarat Salam , Secretary, CPM/ MSC, Sh. Shantikumar Sharma, President, BJP, M. Tombi Singh President, JD (U), S. Umananda Singh, President, MPP, R.K. Shivachandra, Spokesperson, AITC and Manihar Goswami, Working President, JD(S). (UNI)
