SHILLONG: GHP Raju, IGP, completed the 21km half marathon to launch the annual Autumn Festival on Saturday.

Raju was touched by the enthusiasm of the participants, especially children who ran barefoot.

“My heart goes out to those participants who ran barefoot with a smile on their faces. I am donating Rs 50,000 from my salary for distributing shoes to these enthusiastic…participants,” Raju told The Shillong Times.

Meanwhile RG Lyngdoh, Chairman of the MTDF, said he would make all efforts to identify those barefoot walkers from the list of entrants.
