CM’s youth for green campaign movement launched

 JOWAI: With an aim to incorporate the concerned stakeholders including schools, colleges, Dorbar Shnongs, NGOs besides others to promote cleanliness in the state, Education Minister, Prof RC Laloo launched the Chief Minister Youth for Green Campaign Movement in West Jaintia Hills District on Saturday.

The launching program of the Chief Minister Youth for Green Campaign Movement held at Jrisalein playground organized by the West Jaintia hills District Administration in collaboration with the District Sports and Youth Affair Department was attended by schools and college students, members of various NGOs including the JSU, AJYWO, JTTA, prominent residents of Jowai town and government officials.

In his introductory speech, the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, P S Dkhar informed that the CM’s youth for green campaign movement will help one maintain a clean atmosphere.

“It is the responsibility of every citizen to keep localities, workplaces, market places and all that surround us clean and green”, Dkhar said.

“As part of the campaign various awareness programs will be organized such as, drawing & Painting competitions, poster campaign, awards for the cleanliness locality or village besides others”, Dkhar added.

He further informed that the District Committee would chalk out programs, detail strategies and action plan in this regard.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Laloo said, “The CM’s youth for green campaign Movement is a motive to evoke and spread the message on the need of preserving the mother earth with a clean environment for healthy living.

Other who spoke on the occasion were JSU president, Rikut N Parien, AJYWO president, MH Dkhar, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong president, KF Laloo and Kiang Nangbah government college lecture, JMQ Lyngdoh. Students of JNV Mukhla, volunteers of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan presented their short plays and songs on the theme of ‘clean environment’.
