NEW DELHI: The BJP’s mouthpiece Kamal Sandesh on Tuesday said India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal is “digging holes in democracy with foreign funds”.

The editorial in the latest issue of Kamal Sandesh said: “One who could not remain loyal to Anna, how can he be loyal to the nation? He (Kejriwal) is digging holes in democracy with foreign funds.”

It also hit out at Kejriwal over his attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari, saying that Kejriwal had “distorted” information provided by the party leader.

The BJP mouthpiece, whose editor is party MP Prabhat Jha, said Kejriwal had ruined former IAC activist Anna Hazare’s agitation “in pursuit of his naked ambition”.

The editorial called upon the UPA government Tuesday “to find out who had given ‘supari’ (contract)” to the activist.

“Team Kejriwal is indulging in a conspiracy to create suspicion about democracy… it is playing into the hands of those who have no attachment to India… Kejriwal’s main game may be related to funding… (Do) the funds belong to India or to forces which want to weaken the country? The Manmohan Singh government should find out who has given supari (contract) to Kejriwal,” the editorial stated.

“Who is Kejriwal? Don’t people know that he is the same person who ditched Anna? By ditching Anna who nurtured him, Kejriwal has definitely reserved his name in the list of back-stabbers. Does a back-stabber enjoy the moral right to accuse others?” it said.

Earlier, Congress leader Digvijay Singh had questioned foreign funding of an NGO that Kejriwal is associated with.

The editorial said that Kejriwal made allegations against Gadkari to appear equidistant from both the Congress and the BJP after he “blackened the face of (Robert) Vadra (son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi)”.

Meanwhile, Congress has launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal and his team without naming him, saying they are rabble rousers and front men for rabid anti-Congress forces and taunted BJP for striking “overt and covert alliances” to defame the ruling party.

In the latest edition of its mouthpiece, the party also took a dig at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in a veiled manner for levelling “prima facie absurd charges” against the Congress leadership. (Agencies)
