TURA: Following the recent CBI probe report which alleged irregularities in the appointment of Assistant teachers in government Lower Primary schools in 2009-2010 and indictment of former education minister Ampareen Lyngdoh for her role in manipulation of score sheets of the candidates, the State Eligibility Test (SET) passed candidates are going to hold a rally in Garo Hills, Tura as a protest against the anomalies.

The SET passed candidates have announced that a rally in protest of the irregularities will be held on November 12, starting from Chandmary Playground, Tura to the DCs office at 12:00pm.

According to the CBI report, majority of the candidates under five stations-Jowai, Shillong, Amlarem, Tura and Dadenggiri were appointed in an irregular manner by changing their original marks on experience, education and qualification.

Former Education Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh was accused of instructing the then Director, Directorate of Elementary and Mass Education (DEME) to change the original score sheet prepared by the five boards, to fulfil ‘recommendations’ of several politicians including the Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope.
