Public rally in Shillong, Tura

SHILLONG: Following the recent CBI probe report which alleged irregularities in the appointment of Assistant teachers in government Lower Primary Schools in the State and indictment of former Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh for her role in manipulation of score sheets of the candidates, the FKJGP and the State Eligibility Test (SET) passed candidates are going to hold a rally at Shillong and Tura on Monday to protest against the anomalies. The FKJGP will hold a public rally at the parking lot in Motphran at 12 noon while the State Eligibility Test (SET) passed candidates will hold a rally starting from Chandmary Playground, Tura to the DC office at at the same time.

“The Federation cannot remain a mute spectator to such a mess created by the politicians who are trying to play with the career of our young children who should be provided with quality education right from primary level,” FKJGP president Joe Marwein said.

Marwein said that other NGOs will participate in the rally and appealed to the youth to join in the rally.

The FKJGP has also asked Lyngdoh to step down from her post while demanding scrapping of the appointments.

“The CBI has found the involvement of the then education minister and she should step down as a cabinet minister owing moral responsibility for the whole mess,” Marwein said.

Lyngdoh was incharge of Education from May 2009 till June 2011.
