NONGPOH: It has been a month since the assault on one Rangbah Shnong of Myrdon Nongbah in Ri Bhoi District by some youths after he was re-elected as the Rangbah Shnong in the village but the concerned department of the Police in Ri Bhoi is yet to act upon the case as no proper interrogation has been done from the police side, except for detaining the involved five youth from the village who surrendered themselves before police.

This scribe who visited Bipul P Thangkhiew at his residence after he was discharged from the Hospital, was informed, “It is a matter of concern that the police department has not taken the matter seriously and did not even conduct a proper investigation to find out the miscreant behind the incident who had sent these youth to attack me”, Bipul Thangkhiew said.

“The adamant attitude of the police department only shows that they are not devoted to performing their responsibilities and to conduct proper investigation on this assault case of the Rangbah Shnong. They did not even take any initiative on the FIR lodged by the Executive Committee of the village Durbar. If these are the actions of the Police Department then what will happen if general people get assaulted?”, Thangkhiew said.

Thangkhiew also raised concern over the fact that no police personnel from the Umsning Outpost came to visit or interrogate him on the incident.

Bipul P Thangkhiew, has once again requested the Police Department to take the initiative to pursue the case so that the main culprit behind the attack can be arrested, but if the police fails then he would take another option on this matter, he asserted.
