Achievers award

Inner Wheel Club of Shillong recently organized the Shankar Lal Goyal Memorial Achievers Award ceremony 2012. Sherwood School, Tura which bagged the maximum number of position in the top twenty order of merit for SSLC Examination 2012, received the running trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10000.

Dorbar programme

The Seng Kur Dkhar Sawkpoh will hold the 14th Dorbar on December 12 at Saiden near Nongpoh at 10.30am under the management of the Seng Kur Ri-bhoi unit. Meritorious students of the clan would be presented awards on the occasion, details of which can be obtained from Jaijaimon Kharwanlang, Laban near Red Cross hospital on or before November 30.

General meeting

The Meghalaya mine owner and exporter’s association will hold its general meeting on November 22 at 10am at Nongjri, South West Khasi hills district.

Youth exchange

The inter-State youth exchange programme will be held from November 21 till December 1 whereby participants from ten states and union territories will be attending. The inauguration will be held at Bharat Scouts and Guides Hall on November 22 at 3.30pm and the valedictory function will be held on November 30 at 2pm at the Shillong College Conference Hall.

Dorbar Shnong

The executive committee of the Dorbar Shnong Malki has agreed to let Malki Rangbah Shnong HP Offlyn Dohling to step down from his post from November 29.

JRTS Alumni

On the occasion of dedication of the new seminary complex of the John Roberts Theological Seminary Mawklot, Upper Shillong coinciding with the 125th anniversary celebration, a special programme will be organised for the JRTS alumni on November 24 at 11am at the seminary premises.

Holiday

All State Government offices including Revenue and Magisterial Court and educational institutions in South West Khasi Hills will remain closed on November 30 on account of ‘U Sngap Syiem Day’.

College week

The Shillong College Students’ Union is observing a week-long College Week from November 19-27 on the theme ‘Chasing your Dreams’.

MoU inked

The State Government has inked a MoU with the State Bank of India (SBI) for the extension of the SBI Government salary package to the staff of the State Government. Under the scheme, salaries are electronically credited and certain loan facilities are available to the employees at concessional rates.
