GNLA linkman held; cops take away pressman’s camera

 TURA: A police operation in Ringrey market of Tura on Monday afternoon led to the arrest of a GNLA linkman but also witnessed police highhandedness when commandos snatched the camera of a press photographer present at the scene of the incident. Special police teams comprising of SWAT commandos led by newly-appointed Additional SP Bruno Sangma accosted the GNLA linkman Pasan Marak while he was trying to buy over a dozen activated SIM cards from a dealer in Ringrey market at around 4pm. The commandos snatched the camera of the photographer of a language daily after he clicked a few snaps of commandos taking away the arrested militant. The photographer was told that he would get his camera back later.

Many were puzzled with the happenings in the heart of the town at peak traffic hours as the commandos are seen moving freely in civil dress with some spotted them carrying small arms as worried bystanders thought them to be militants.
