NONGSTOIN: In a joint operation of the Meghalaya Police and Assam Police, a GNLA informer was arrested on Thursday from Hahim, a small town bordering the two states.
The police had information about the presence of the informer at Hahim. There were also reports of demand notes being served to some businessmen at Hahim. Accordingly, a joint operation was planned for nabbing the informer.
Police personnel covertly dressed as civilians manned the market place at Hahim and spotted the suspected informer after which they nabbed him.
Later, the informer, Sengsrang Marak (23), was taken to Boko Police Station where he confessed that he was a GNLA informer and he had come to the market at Hahim to inform the outfit about the presence of security forces there.
A mobile phone was confiscated from his possession.
