NONGPOH: Expressing concern over the failure of the Police Department i.e the Umsning Outpost to take a serious initiative on interrogating the arrested over the assaulting case of one Rangbah Shnong of the Myrdon Nongbah which was occurred on the October 20, the frontal NGO from Ri Bhoi District, the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Central Body on Sunday demanded the immediate removal of the In-Charge of the Umsning Outpost.

It may be mentioned that on October 20 at around 11 pm, one Myrdon Nongbah Rangbah Shnong also the RBYF Vice President Bipul P Thangkhiew was brutally assaulted after he successfully won the election of the Rangbah Shnong seat at Myrdon Nongbah.

It may also be mentioned that, even after a month passed since the incident occurred; the Police Department from Umsning Outpost had not taken the matter seriously and did not conduct any appropriate investigation to find out the main guy involved in the case, except detaining the 5 culprits who surrendered themselves before police at Umsning.

“The irresponsibility of the police department of the Umsning Outpost for not conducting needful investigation on the Rangbah Shnong assaulting case had created concern for the federation as well as the general public who were trusting the police to take such kind of incident seriously”, said RBYF central body Secretary L.K Sawkmie.

“The RBYF had also went to meet the In-charge officer of the Umsning D.B Nengnong (S.I) after the incident took place and during the meeting, the federation had sought the cooperation of the Police Department to conduct stern inquiries and interrogation on the matter and especially to the five involved youth so that they could reach to the depth of the incident and bring to light the main culprit involved in the assaulting case but this request from the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation had not been met by the In-charge”, Sawkmie added.

Considering the limited response and the seeming incapability, the RBYF has sternly demanded the Home Department of the State Police to take action against the In-Charge of the Umsning outpost by removing him from the Umsning Police Outpost.
