SHILLONG: The breakaway faction A’chik National Liberation Council (ANVC-B) has alleged that some of the shortlisted Congress candidates have an unholy nexus to Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).
In a statement issued here on Monday, ANVC (B) leader Rimpu N Marak said, “.It is surprising to see some of the names who belong to one particular camp of the party which has the backing of the GNLA.”
The Congress party has been in the eye of the storm after the GNLA chief Champion R Sangma stated his “boys” would support the party during the 2013 Assembly elections. The outfit, however, made it clear that it would support a “free and fair election” so that only true leaders emerge winners in the 2013 elections.
The outfit also questioned as to why the former Deputy Chief Minister and Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee Working President Deborah Marak did not apprise the AICC what “Mukul Sangma government is doing in Garo Hills.” The outfit also said that it has nothing against Marak, but it is against the irresponsible leaders and the wrong system of campaigning.
