SHILLONG: In Tuesday’s match of Group B in the Under-25 Inter District Cricket Tournament, Garo Hills defeated Ri-Bhoi by 72 runs and topped the group with four points and in the process qualified for the semifinals.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Garo Hills after a shaky start managed to amass a competitive total of 140-7 in 35 overs, mainly due to a fighting 66 runs scored by Arfino Chiangli.
AK Yadav and Rohit Jha claimed two wickets each for Ri-Bhoi.
In reply Ri-Bhoi were bundled out for paltry 68 runs in 19 overs with Aviral Pandey scoring 23 runs.
Kilko Marak and Ianco Shira claimed four wickets and three wickets respectively.
Ri-Bhoi will play Jaintia Hills, who also lost to Garo Hills, on Wednesday.
