World AIDS Day

To commemorate the World Aids Day, Meghalaya Aids Control Society along with UNDP and Meghalaya Legislators’ Forum on HIV and AIDS, UNICEF will organize a two-day state-level convention on HIV and AIDS on November 30 and December 1 at the State Central Library. The convention will feature workshops, panel discussion and other programmes.

Garo Union meet

An emergent public meeting of the All India Garo Union will be held on December 1 at 11 am on the premises of Garo Union Secondary School, Shillong.

Workshop

St. Anthony’s College, Shillong will organise a national workshop on the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences on November 30 at 9.30 am at the college conference hall.

Foundation stone

A foundation stone for construction of a health sub-centre at Mawsadang, East Khasi Hills, was unveiled on Wednesday by Social Welfare Minister JA Lyngdoh. The centre will cover seven villages of Mawsadang, Pyndenumbri, Lawkhla-Mawlong, Laitniangtlong, Niamsang, Laitryngwai and Lawkhla.

Disability Day

World Disability Day 2012 on the theme, ‘removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all’ will be observed on December 3 at 10am at the football ground at Nongmadan Smit. Secretary, Education department, FR Kharkongor, will be the chief guest.

Valedictory function

The inter-state youth exchange programme will conclude on November 30 at 11am at the Shillong College conference hall. Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will be the chief guest.
