Some more Cabinet decisions

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has decided to categorize the government typists into grade 1, 2 and 3.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma told reporters after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the promotion avenue for them will also be made available both on seniority and merit basis. The categorization of typists done was after the approval of minor amendments in the service rules of the Meghalaya Directorate Ministerial Staff. The amendment, however, is restricted to typists.

The State Cabinet also approved the list of holidays for the calendar year 2013, which will be same as of the year 2012.

The Cabinet also brought a minor amendment to Schedule 1 of the Meghalaya Value Added Tax Act 2003 to facilitate certain agricultural products to have exemption of five percent from the Act. The items include oil seeds, coffee beans and cumin seeds among others.
