SHILLONG: Confusion prevails over the appointment of 29 new MCS officers who passed out in 2010, but are treated as 2012 batch.

The 29 newly-inducted MCS officers, who cleared the MPSC examinations in 2010, are categorized as 2012 batch after they got the appointment this year.

“This classification may also affect their seniority,” sources said here on Thursday.

No civil service examinations were held in 2012 and the last civil service examinations were conducted by the MPSC in 2010 only.

While some MCS probationers who already got the appointments earlier, were treated as 2010 batch, only 29 candidates from 2010 batch have been categorized as 2012 batch.

An official with Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) said the 29 MCS officers have been classified as 2012 batch on the basis of their appointment letters issued this year.

There are reports that from among the newly appointed 29 MCS officers, some names had figured in earlier merit list, but there was delay in their appointments.
