SHILLONG: The High level Committee constituted by the State Government on influx will hold its final meeting on Tuesday to take a decision on adopting a mechanism to check influx in the State.

The last meeting on November 15 had discussed the issues related to introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and three-tier identity cards to check the issue of influx.

An official source said on Sunday that though the Committee had favoured both the ILP and three-tier card system, a final decision will be arrived at during the meeting on Tuesday on which of these should be implemented first. However, any decision regarding the introduction of either the ILP or the three-tier card system will be left to the Cabinet after the Committee submits its report to the Government, sources said.

Sources added that any decision is unlikely to be implemented before the approaching Assembly elections as various departments have to be engaged.
