New traffic regulation

Shillong Traffic Police on Monday informed that a ‘One-way’ imposed from Dhankheti to Fire brigade during the morning hours has been lifted till school resumes after the winter vacations. This was informed by the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, M Kharkrang, who stated that the one-way was lifted, following closure of most schools in the Laitumkhrah area.

Office bearers

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Eastern Central Circle, which included Mawryngkneng and Mawkynrew block, has elected new office bearers for the term of 4 years from 2012-2015, with Wanlambok Kharsati as the president, Michael Lawai as vice president, Egenstar Kurkalang as general secretary, Shining Star Kharbihkhiew as assistant general secretary, besides other executive members.

EPIC

The Lok Janshakti Party on Monday sought a clarification from the chief election commissioner P Naik, on the validity of an EPIC card issued in the year 2007 as to whether the same are to be renewed or its validity remains upto 2013 till the electoral polls.

Raising Day

The civil defence and home guards department will observe the Raising Day at Central Training institute of Civil Defence and Homeguard at Mawdiangdiang on December 6 from 9am onwards in which the minister incharge of civil defence and Homeguard Shitlang Pale will be the chief guest.

Conference

A one-day conference organised by the IPPAI, North East India, on the power hub of South Asia will be held on December 5 at Hotel Pinewood at 10am.

Renewal

According to the amendment to the Meghalaya Societies Registration Rules, 1985 herein after referred to as the Principal Rules, the following new sub-rules (f) shall be inserted, 3(f) renewal for registration of the societies. The certificate of registration under the act shall be renewed for every period of three years.

Cleaning drive

The Dorbar Shnong Wahingdoh will organise a cleaning drive on December 8 from 7am onwards. The dorbar shnong has decided to not allow vehicles to be parked along the roadsides of this area on that particular day during the drive.
