One injured in encounter

SHILLONG: An unidentified person sustained bullet injury following an encounter between police and GNLA cadres at Mawhar stone quarry in Nonghyllam, South West Khasi Hills on Monday afternoon.

Police, quoting preliminary reports, informed that one person was hit by a bullet during the encounter.

“We are trying to establish the identity of the person who was hit by a bullet,” police said, while adding that the militants managed to flee from the spot.

Police said they have seized a country made .22 pistol, blank demand notes of GNLA, one detonator, two empty case of AK-47 and one camouflage dress from the encounter site
