Tura all set for Winter Festival

TURA: Tura is all set to witness the annual winter festival of West Garo Hills, Ahaia (joyful celebration) which will be held from December 6-8 at two venues, Chandmary playground and the Deputy Commissioner’s park. This year’s festival will feature the maiden performance by the renowned Shillong Chamber Choir amongst other events.

The first day of the festival will be marked by a grand carnival starting from Tura Law College and culminate at Chandmary playground followed by an aerial motor gliders show following which the festival will be inaugurated at the Chandmary playground by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma. The CM will then proceed to the Deputy Commissioner’s park and inaugurate the Food and Wine Festival and Flower Show. At 6pm on the same day the Shillong Chamber Choir will perform at the Chandmary playground along with other artistes.

Meanwhile, the Ahaia Winter Marathon followed by indigenous sports is scheduled for the second day of the festival.

The last day of the festival will be marked by a fancy dress competition for children. The Festival will culminate with the Tura Winter Queen 2012 and a Fashion Show.
