JOWAI: Jowai Police on Tuesday arrested two persons including a woman for allegedly forging the documents by faking the seal and signature of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Revenue Officer.

The two, Manda Kynjing and Koles Pariat from Ladthadlaboh and Mukhla village respectively, were arrested after a complaint was lodged by the Secretary of the JHADC.

Sources informed that Kynjin and Pariat along with one Raja Tyrlong (Dkhar) of Mukhla village had duped several women in Jowai of lakhs of rupees by duplicating land holding certificates.

“Kynjin approached many women for loans by mortgaging the fake land documents she had prepared exactly as the one issued by the Revenue Department of the JHADC and procured loans from women in Jaintia Hills with a promise to pay it back within a short period,” sources said.

Police could not arrest the third accused, Raja Tyrlong who was absconding.
