SHILLONG: The Shillong Municipal Employees Association (SMEA) has threatened to get into agitational mode if the State Government fails to fulfill its demands within the 14-day deadline which started on November 30.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, SMEA general secretary P Marwein said, “Following the meeting with the Urban Affairs Minister on December 17 last year, we were verbally intimated and assured that our grievances would be heard in the Cabinet.

“Unfortunately, we have not received any feedback on the measures to address our grievances,” the SMEA general secretary said adding that they have also sought an appointment with Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma to which the Association is still awaiting response.

The SMEA is planning to raise black flags and go for a three-day pen down if the government fails to meet its demands.
