Laitumkhrah, Umpling reach hockey final

SHILLONG: The last league hockey matches of the Shillong Games 2012, organised by the Shillong Sports Association, were played on Monday.

In the first match played between Umpling SC against Umsohsun SC, the former won the match 4-0 and were thus assured of a place in the final.

Frankie Pala scored a brace in the 11th and 42nd minutes. Alexie Lamin scored in the 33rd minute and Albert Siangshai added to the total in the 36th.

The second match between Laitumkhrah and Pynthorbah was a one-sided affair as Laitumkhrah scored almost at will to beat their opponents 14-2.

Shasi and Jotin scored a hat-trick each for the winners, while Albert Jyrwa of Pynthorbah scored a brace.

The final will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm.
