New transformers to replace damaged ones: Mondal

 SHILLONG: Power Minister AT Mondal assured the House that several damaged transformers in whole state was being repaired and replaced after the members of the Assembly raised the issue of hardship of people due to this.

He assured during the Question Hour that all the transformers that were damaged till November this year will be replaced in around 60 days.

Raising a question, Sangma said that if the transformers are not repaired in time, this will affect the people who wanted to illuminate their houses during the upcoming festive season.

The NCP legislators Timothy Shira, Nihim D Shira and Congress member PW Khongjee have also expressed concern over the matter.

In reply, the Minister said that the Government had ordered as many as 323 new transformers for the replacement of damaged ones.
