SHILLONG: The Shillong bench of the Gauhati High Court will give the order on the PIL on land allotment to the civil servants at the cost of Rs 1 per square feet on January 30.

The court asked Advocate General KS Kynjing to obtain the instruction as to whether the allotment of land to the Civil Services Officers Housing Co-operative Society was done in accordance with law or not and to submit the same on January 30 next .

The CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing had appeared in person when the PIL was first taken up by the court on December 17.

Earlier, the CAG report for the year ended March 31, 2011, had found lacunae in the land allotment to the civil servants. The report had said ” Unauthorised allotment of land to the Civil Service Officers Housing Co-operative Society Ltd as well as incorrect fixation of premium at a lower rate resulted in undue financial benefit of Rs 78.42 lakh to the society besides allotment of land in excess of the prescribed limit”.
