SAI to hold trials in several sports

SHILLONG: The Sports Authority of India, Shillong Training Centre, will conduct selection trials in the disciplines of archery, boxing, table tennis, karate and taekwondo at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on the following dates: boxing – January 7, archery and table tennis – Jan 8, karate and taekwondo – Jan 9.

The reporting time for all disciplines is 8:30am.

Those eligible for the trials should be between the ages of 12 and 18 on January 1, 2013.

According to an SAI press release, selection of the talent shall be done on the basis of sports performance and potential based on merit and performance with the selection based on achievements at various levels of recognised competition, ie, at the Inter National , National, State & District Level and through the battery of tests as per their age and the skill test including their aptitude and attitude towards the concerned sports.

The candidates are to appear along with their two recent passport-sized photographs along with an attested copy of their birth certificate issued by the concerned Authority of the Municipality/CHC/Primary Health Centre/School/College or the Board/University concerned and sports achievement certificates.
