70th round survey to commence from Jan 1

SHILLONG: The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) will start is year long 70th round survey from January 1 till December in Meghalaya along with the rest of the country.

This time the survey will be done on the subjects of Land & Livestock Holding Survey (LHS), Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agriculture Households & All India Debt &Investment Survey (AIDIS).

For the survey, the NSSO, Filed operations Division (FOD) Shillong Regional office started its three day regional training conference of NSS 70th round in the city under the chairmanship of DC Sarma, DDG.

Under the survey, altogether 208 villages and urban blocks will be surveyed by the Central and the State Government on a 50-50 basis.

The data collected through this survey will be used by the Central as well as the State Government for formulating planning, development and policy decisions.

It may be mentioned that the NSSO (FOD) is the primary data collection wing of the Ministry of Statistics & programme implementation.
