SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Medical Services Association (MMSA) on Thursday decided to cease work for 24 hours on January 11 following the failure of the state government in taking action against the alleged miscreants involved in looting and assaulting a Medical and Health officer of Mahendraganj CHC, West Garo Hills, Dr Apchan A Sangma on December 15 last.
In a memorandum submitted to the commissioner and secretary incharge of health and family welfare on Wednesday, the MMSA has announced its agitational programmes starting with a 24 hours cease work on January 11.
“As a mark of protest we have decided to cease work for 24 hours from 10 AM of January 11 to 10 AM of January 12,” MMSA general secretary Dr Aman Warr said adding further that from January 12 onwards the association will work from 10 am to 5pm only.
The association has alleged that till date, no action or follow-up has been done by the government in regard to this case.
