SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded an independent inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds for the CGI sheet by the Pynthormukhrah MLA AL Hek as revealed in the RTI filed by the Pyntohrunmkhrah Peoples Association (PPA).

In a statement issued here on Thursday, BJP General Secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said, “The people of Pynthormukhrah will surely not be satisfied with the clarification of their MLA because it is based on an RTI report.”

While Revealing the RTI findings, the PPA had alleged that there has been anomaly in utilization of funds upto Rs 2 crore in the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) scheme under which Corrugated Galvanised Iron (CGI) sheets were distributed to the people in Pynthorumkhrah.

According to BJP, if the Pynthormukhrah MLA really wants to come clean, instead of media trial, an independent enquiry should be set up to see that the RTI report were false

The PPA also alleged that the RTI findings reveal scams in the electrification of X-Ray hall at Nangkiew multi-purpose society Pynthorumkhrah, extension of rooms for Golflink College and getting its affiliation.

However, the allegations were refuted by the legislator while terming it as cheap political gimmick by the aspirant candidate to tarnish his image in view of the ensuing 2013 Assembly polls.
