JOWAI: An Eighteen-year-old mentally unstable woman was allegedly raped by one Dramiko Rynjah of Nonglatem village on December 29 at around 9 pm.
Jowai Police arrested the alleged rapist on Thursday evening. Sources informed that Rynjah, father of three, forcibly dragged the woman to a nearby garden and committed the crime.
“We came to know about the incident only after Rynjah himself told us what happened. We immediately informed the Rangbah Shnong and the headman instructed us to lodge a complaint with the Police”, said one of her relative. The same person has raped the girl twice. Last year, the matter was compromised between the clans of the girl, the accused and the Dorbar Shnong”, the relative said.
