Kohima: A cold war through media continued between the ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF) and the Congress in Nagaland where Assembly elections will be held on February 23.

National and regional political parties of the state have already geared up the election activities, while some parties have already selected some candidates for certain constituencies.

Nagaland Congress has already announced all the sitting legislators would be given ticket from the same constituencies and appealed to the public of the respective constituencies to support the sitting candidates.

The Congress, along with the Nagaland unit of BJP and some other organisations have demanded resignations of all the 60 Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and the Members of Parliament, but NPF is sticking that they are ready to resign only after a solution to the Naga political issue is solved.

Nagaland BJP took out a ‘protest rally’ at Kohima on Monday last demanding immediate solution of Naga political issue and resignation of all 60 legislators.

However, after declaration of election all the political parties of Nagaland are reportedly busy with election activities like, strategies, selection of candidates, campaign and how to lure the voters.

According to political observers, there may be more violence in Assembly elections throughout the state as the different political party supporters have already started dominating some of the areas and started threatening the peoples of those areas. (UNI)
