Bhagalpur: A special team on Monday began investigation into the alleged gangrape and murder of a woman at Makaspur village under Kahalgaon police station area in Bhagalpur district on January 12 night. Senior Police Superintendent K S Anupam said here that a special team had begun inquiry into the case of alleged gangrape and murder of a woman in Makaspur village on January 12 night. Her body was found hanging from a tree in mango orchard near Makaspur village on Sunday morning.
Vital clues had been collected with the assistance of sniffer dog and query of local people, Ms Anupam said adding a five-member medical board had been constituted to ascertain whether the woman was raped before the murder. Ms Anupam said the officer in-charge of Kahalgaon police station had been replaced and another efficient police officer had been deputed there.
Deputy Inspector General (Bhagalpur range) Amit Kumar Jain said culprits would not be spared in this case.
He also visited the spot in Makaspur village where the woman’s body was found. The woman travelling in Baramhpurta Mail for New Delhi had alighted from the train when it stopped before reaching Kahalgaon railway station on January 12 night. She was taken into captivity by anti-social elements who allegedly gangraped and later killed her in Makaspur village. (UNI)
